Roof Rats are seen frequently in the Bay Area. They’re known to be climbers, commonly nesting in areas above the ground such as trees, vines, attics and even ceiling voids. Roof rats enter your home similar to squirrels and will nest in underground burrows as their population grows.

Although there are many different species of rats, the most common in the Bay Area are roof rats. Their tail is longer than the head and body combined. Rat fur is smooth with colors varying from dark brown to black. Roof rats have large hairless ears and a pointed nose. Adult roof rats weigh approximately 5-9 ounces and are 13-18 inches long. Their droppings are long and cylindrical.

Although roof rats prefer above ground nests, they will make their home in underground burrows as their population grows. Most rats prefer seeds, nuts, fresh vegetables and fruits, but will eat grains & meat. Because rats become sexually mature within a short time frame (2-3) months, it’s important to get control of a rat problem. They average 4-6 litters per year, birthing 4-8 pups per litter. If you think you may have rats, contact Day & Nite Pest Control right away.

Due to a roof rats ability to reproduce it’s important to contact us if you’re noticing: hollowed citrus and other fruit, long & cylindrical droppings, noises in your attic and walls, gnawing sounds and gnaw marks around roof eaves. Day & Nite Pest control has extensive Bay Area experience ridding homes & businesses of rats.

The night was really terrible; it would be a miracle if the craft did not founder. Twice it could have been all over with her if the crew had not been constantly on the watch. Aouda was exhausted, but did not utter a complaint. More than once Mr. Fogg rushed to protect her from the violence of the waves.
